On May 19–20, 2026, the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies hosted the international workshop “Innovative Methodologies in Gender Studies.” The workshop was organized within the NCN SONATA grant “Gender Gaps in Political Participation: Examining the Relationships Between Gender Equality and Gender-Role Attitudes in Europe, 1999–2021,” led by Dr. Olga Lavrinenko.
Over two days, the workshop created a space for students, doctoral candidates, and researchers from Poland and abroad to discuss methodological innovations in gender studies. The program included sessions conducted by researchers from our Faculty: Dr. Olga Lavrinenko, who demonstrated the application of latent class analysis to the study of gender-role attitudes, and Dr. Kateryna Gryniuk, who focused on tools for advocacy, researching and evaluating gender equality policies.
The workshop also featured guest speakers. Dr. Vera Beloshitzkaya from the University of Salzburg delivered two sessions: one on measuring intersectionality in research incorporating a gender perspective, and another on navigating academic systems in Europe and the United States. Dr. Monika de Silva from the University of Gothenburg facilitated a session on qualitative methods in gender studies.
The program concluded with an expert panel discussion involving the speakers and the audience, followed by closing remarks from Prof. Łukasz Zamęcki, Vice-Dean for Research. We are grateful for the active participation, vibrant discussions, and thought-provoking questions, and look forward to further advancing this field through continued collaboration and exchange.
